12-Hour and 24-Hour Clocks
There are two ways to write time. Knowing both helps you read school timetables, work rosters, transport times and appointment cards.
A 12-hour clock uses AM and PM and goes from 1 to 12. A 24-hour clock goes from 00:00 to 23:59 — no AM or PM needed.
Uses AM and PM. Goes 1–12 twice per day.
No AM/PM. Goes 00–23. Always 4 digits.
